Albuquerque Flowers

You may not think of the dry high-desert environs of Albuquerque, New Mexico as the first place to see beautiful flowers. However, the Rio Grande Botanic Garden has been doing a masterful job growing beautiful gardens using a bit of the run-off from the Rio Grande.

Tulips at the BioPark

Here are a few of the photos I have captured at this must-visit attraction over the past few years. The tulips seen above were photographed ten years ago in the arboretum at the ABQ BioPark Botanic Garden in Albuquerque on Kodak film using a Minolta film DSLR with a 50mm f1.7 lens. It is one of my favorite flowers photos ever!

The stunning yellow daisies shown above were captured in arboretum at The Rio Grande Botanic Garden, Albuquerque, New Mexico. I photographed this more than ten years ago with my first ever digital camera (3 Megapixel Canon D30) and a cheap set of screw-on close-up lenses.

The lovely Iris seen below was photographed on an overcast day at the Rio Grande Botanic Garden in Albuquerque, New Mexico. This is the best kind of light to capture the full range of flower color while avoiding harsh shadows.
