The Best Breakfast in Albuquerque
Best Breakfast in Albuquerque. Really?
First, let me say that I have a problem with the word “best.” That suggests a spirit of competition. No one is trying to win an award here. Good food is about a love for cooking and the appreciative folks who enjoy it. By that standard, there is much to love in ‘Duke City! Here is a short list of places to find a great breakfast in Albuquerque!

Let me start off with an easy choice. The Frontier Restaurant. They serve a lot of breakfasts, featuring New Mexican diner style standards with a Texas twang. Everybody in Albuquerque knows The Frontier. It would be easy for for The Frontier to rest on their reputation and name recognition. However, from the first time I dined at The Frontier more than ten years ago, until now, the quality has been consistently high. This is an easy choice if you are sampling New Mexican food for the first time.

If you want a good fast-food alternative for breakfast that you can eat in the car on the go (we all have those mornings), try Blake’s Lotaburger. Blake’s breakfast burritos are quite good, and use real eggs (from a shell) and other fresh ingredients. Unlike McDonalds, these are not pre-formed heat and serve items but always cooked fresh when ordered.

Here is the third choice for ‘best breakfast’ if you want a more traditional (as in not New Mexican) breakfast. The Grove Cafe serves a great breakfast with familiar items like fluffy pancakes with fresh fruit, classic scrambled eggs with bacon, and freshly baked English muffins with smoked salmon cream cheese, all with an artisanal twist. The sun-splashed airy restaurant space adds to the pleasant morning ambiance when you dine here. This is a bit pricier, but a great choice when you want to splurge a bit.
